Manager – Accounting Services (Shipping & Yachting)

The Role:

Due to further growth and increased client requirements, our clients Accounts department is seeking a Manager with direct experience within the Shipping & Yachting Industry.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

- Preparation of Financial Statements and other ad hoc Management Accounts under GAPSME or IFRS for companies, sole traders and other organisations, analysis of variances and other ratios where need arises.

- Preparation and submission of applications with CFR. 

- Preparation and submission of VAT Returns.

 - Providing clients with accounting services and consultancy both onsite and from the office.

- Managing one of the accounting teams; train, mentor, review and assist junior staff.

- Facilitate communication between clients and the team. 

- Work in liaison with external auditors during the audit. 

- Ensure that any AML risk linked to clients within the team is reported internally to the MLRO. 

- Ensuring timely submissions and adherence to deadlines. 

- Conduct employee performance reviews. 

- Work closely with top management to make sure that staff are performing efficiently and in line with the group procedures. 

- Participate in internal training sessions held for staff. 

- Attendance at client's premises, where required, to carry out the above roles and responsibilities. 

Academic and Experience: 

- ACCA qualified (or equivalent) or close to completing.

- At least 5 years’ experience in Client Accounting, and at a senior level. 

- Direct working knowledge within the Shipping Sector (within both Retail and Commercial) 

Required Skills and attributes: 

- Excellent communication skills. 

- Good level of English; Fluency in Italian would be considered an asset. 

- Knowledge of SAGE and XERO accounting software. 

- Ability to work on own initiative. 

- Good leadership and problem-solving skills. 

- Solid working knowledge of Maltese VAT legislation.
